- Unit (120), on guard, tribal elf [TELF], hill dwarf [HDWA], longbow [LBOW], battle axe [BAXE].

What is Atlantis

It is PBEM, Play By E-Mail game. Imagine Might and Magic or other turn-based strategy (i.e. Master of Orion). Now imagine that after each turn a program creates a text file with current game position, and sends it to player. And a player replies with his orders in another text file. And now imagine some dozens of players of the kind, playing the same game. This will be what PBEM is about.

Atlantis looks much like the mentioned Heroes of Might and Magic, there are leaders, squads and a hexagonal map too. And, it is a fantasy world. This means that people there are slaying dragons and each other with swords and sorcery, and you can see earry elves and hammerly gnomes all around.

What is Advisor

As we know, PBEM reports are nothing more than large sheets of texts. It is sometimes deadly boring to read them through. So, some smart people write programs to read reports and show them in tables, maps and images. Those programs are commonly known as clients. And, whoops, Advisor is a client for Atlantis!

Advisor can draw a cool cute map with many options, load as much as you want turn reports and issue some common orders. It uses "a unit knows what it can do" concept. That means, you cannot order to produce axes, if unit isn't skilled as a weaponsmith or has no iron.

This client also have some features like weight and movement type calculations, and issuing movement orders direct from the map (i.e. clicking on location adds some move orders to unit's list). All items in Advisor are split into groups and look differently in tables. Every group has its own features, which is taken into account when unit decides to accept or decline particular orders.

Orders given to a unit will be immediately processed. For example, when you drag some stone by mouse from unit's items into another unit's, this very moment the later one will be now shown with the stone (and the first one without it, of course).

Client was tuned for Atlantis 4.0.10, running, for example, on Dragoncat server. But practically it supports almost all currently running 4.x Atlantis servers.

Important client features:

  • Order Script allows you to write your own behaviors for units and avoid mundane repeating actions.
  • Battle Viewer / Simulator shows battles in graphical Might & Magic style. The result of a battle can be predicted.
  • Various statistics show different types of info; for exemple, you will know if someone is working / entertaining / taxing in some regions, even if there are no visible units.
  • Armies. Units grouped into armies will move together.
  • Needs. Declare amount of silver needed for a studying unit once - and then forget about it. Unit will automatically get needed items from other units.
